Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement issued at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Newry, you must be at least 21 years old, though age limits may vary based on vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You must also present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria listed in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Details
- Bookings can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Newry office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Final payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is necessary to perform a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may attract extra charges, so please notify us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, plus an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Overview
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Comprehensive coverage information and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial liability. Carefully reviewing these options is advisable. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless you opt for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For details specific to your reservation, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or missed appointments may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. The vehicle must not be sub-let or driven by unauthorized individuals. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, the vehicle should not be used for purposes it is not intended for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Travel outside designated geographical areas requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under Northern Irish law, Car Hire Newry will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately when posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
